Winter : A Matching Puzzle for French Learners

Winter-Themed French Matching Puzzle

Bring a little seasonal fun into your French lessons with this free winter-themed matching puzzle! This activity is perfect for beginners or elementary-level students learning French vocabulary related to winter.

How to use this activity in your classroom:

Warm-up: Start by introducing or reviewing the key vocabulary included in the puzzle (e.g., "traîneau," "bottes," and "moufle"). You can use flashcards, a slideshow, or real objects if available.

Puzzle Time: Hand out the puzzle to your students. They’ll need to match the French words to the corresponding pictures. This can be done individually, in pairs, or in small groups,

depending on the age and skill level of your class.

Extension Activity: Once students complete the matching exercise, have them use some of the words in simple sentences. For example, “J’aime le bonhomme de neige” (I like the snowman).

Interactive Practice: You could also turn it into a speaking game. Show a picture and have students say the matching French word aloud.

This puzzle is a great way to make learning French vocabulary both engaging and enjoyable during the winter season. It encourages visual learning, reinforces spelling, and makes French fun!

Feel free to adapt the activity to suit your students' needs. Enjoy!
